The MWR Community Recreation Office provides discount tickets to your favorite places, including local events, museums and attractions, as well as amusement parks such as Universal Orlando Resort and Walt Disney World. The Community Recreation  team will also assist with your leisure travel needs internationally or nationally. With access to over 5,000 tickets and trips, Tickets & Travel can help you see it all!

Leisure Skills

The Community Recreation Office offers more than just tickets! You'll also find a variety of crafting opportunities, including the annual Holiday Arts & Crafts Festival, in addition to rentals designed to make planning your party or other special event easy and fun! 

 

Holiday Arts & Crafts Festival

Are you a crafter? Do you make handmade or personalized creations?  Showcase your talents and sell your handcrafted items as a vendor at MWR Community Recreation's Annual Arts and Crafts Festival, held on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the NAS Patuxent River Drill Hall. Entry is free for shoppers and is open to all with base access.

DIY Craft Kits

Community Recreation offers a variety of seasonal and holiday-themed DIY craft kits throughout the year. Kits include all materials needed to create the craft. Check out our current offers below - click on the craft to learn more.

White House Ornaments

Start - or continue - a holiday tradition by trimming your tree with a official White House ornament. You'll pay less than regular retail prices by purchasing your ornament through MWR and you'll save on sales tax! Click on the link below to view this year's ornament.

 

 

Rentals

Rent through Community Recreation and you'll not only make planning your special event easier, you'll save money!

  • Table rentals: $9 each. 6-foot, 8-foot and 60-inch round tables are available. The 6-foot and 8-foot tables fold in half for easier transport.
  • Chair rentals: $1 each for black, mesh chairs.
  • Lawn games rentals: $5 per day and $12 per game (Friday-Monday; 24 hour advanced notice required. Subject to availability.)

Loan Locker

MWR Community Recreation operates a Loan Locker with basic household goods for Active Duty members waiting for their personal property to be delivered to their new home. These items maybe checked out for up to 90 days and are offered free of charge (assuming they are returned in the same/serviceable condition as received). Please visit the Community Recreation Office to complete a contract and receive the items.

Loan locker items include:

  • Ironing board with cover
  • 12-cup coffee maker
  • Microwave
  • Lantern/LCD clock
  • Sleeping pad
  • Sleeping cot
  • Carpet/floor sweeper
  • Camp table/benches

2024 Garden Plot Rentals

No room for a garden? Rent a space from the Community Recreation Office! MWR garden plots are 20ft x 75 ft and are fully equipped with water outlets for irrigation.

Plots are $30 each, plus a $15 refundable clean-up deposit (refundable after Nov. 15, 2024).

  • March 11-15, 2024: Plot rentals available for Active Duty and last year's gardeners.
  • March 18, 2024: New gardeners may apply for space.
  • April 17, 2024: Plots to be plowed (weather permitting).
  • April 17, 2024: Approximate availability for water on sites.

 

Spaces can be rented at the Community Recreation Office Monday-Friday,  9 a.m.-5 p.m. Open to all with base access!
