The Pax River Teen Center and the Fleet & Family Support Center will host a series of employment workshops for Teen Center participants this winter.

The workshops will be held at the Rassieur Youth Center from 3:30-4:15 p.m. A variety of job-related topics will be covered, including:

  • Jan. 21: Dress for Success / Interview Skills
  • Feb. 25: Job Application
  • March 18: Trade Path

Other events tentatively scheduled include a babysitting basics class and various field trips. Dates for these events will be announced once finalized.

The workshops are open to Pax River Teen Center participants only. Teens interested in attending one or all of the workshops are encouraged to join the Teen Center if they have not already done so.

Enrollment in the Teen Center is free and open to anyone with base access. Registration is accepted year-round. Please contact the Teen Center at NASPAX_TC@us.navy.mil or 301-342-1694 for registration information.

The Teen Center offers a time for teens weekday evenings from 2-6 p.m. to socialize with their peers through art projects, culinary classes, gardening, video games and more. Additional field trips, events and activities are planned throughout the year.

Boys and girls who are least age 12 and in 7th grade through age 18 and in 12th grade with base access are eligible for the Teen Center program.

The Teen Center provides opportunities for teen volunteerism in programs such as the Leaders in Training and Jr. Program Assistant program, service project opportunities, and some grant-funded employment opportunities. Teens may take part in Job Ready night, Career Launch and Goals for Graduation, all providing training and possible scholarship opportunities.
