From the School Liaison: MDSE Seeking Feedback for Secondary Math Pathways

The NAS Patuxent River School Liaison has announced that the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Launch Years Task Force will present recommendations for Secondary Math Pathways in alignment with the College and Career Readiness Standards July 1-3.

Prior to making their recommendations, MSDE is soliciting feedback from various stakeholders across Maryland. Each feedback session will include a brief overview of the recommendations along with an opportunity for families and other stakeholders to share via small group discussions and/or an online form.

Virtual sessions will be held on the following dates. The links to join the online sessions are next to each date:

The Secondary Math Pathways recommendations may include a proposal to combine Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 - as well as Statistics - into an integrated math course.

The School Liaison works to connect commanders, educators and parents and serves as the subject matter experts for K-12 education issues. The School Liaison can provide numerous resources to assist families, educators, and commands in their efforts to create positive and supportive educational environments for military children.
